Happiness and popular culture
There are some ways happiness and popular culture are tied in together. Popular culture can be certain trends and styles that are happening in the world today. The way happiness ties in to this is there may be certain things that are cool or the latest fad that you think you really want. For example like a new pair of shoes or a new car. You think that having this new thing will make you the happiest person in the world, and you would give anything to get it. When the day comes that you finally get it, you love it for about a week and then you get tired of it. The mind does not really know what it wants. And plus with the way popular culture is, something that may be in right now may not be cool in two weeks.

I totally agree with fads being related to pop culture. What's entertaining and exciting today will be replaced by something more exciting and entertaining tomorrow. You also said that the mind does not really know what it wants and I agree with that as well. I think it's all a side effect of the fickle nature of pop culture.
